Confidentiality and data protection

The Department for Transport (DfT) collects information from bus operators to pay out a range of grants. This processing of personal data is necessary for the exercise of our functions as a government department. If your answers contain any information that allows you to be identified, DfT will, under data protection law, be the Controller for this information.

Operators submit information including the names, work email addresses and work telephone numbers of staff at their organisation. This is in case we need to ask operators follow-up questions about any of their responses.

We use the Google Cloud Platform to process and store the grant claims we receive. The names, work email addresses and work telephone numbers of staff at bus operators who claim grants are included in this database.

DfT’s privacy policy has more information about your rights in relation to your personal data, how to complain and how to contact the Data Protection Officer. View the Department's Personal Information Charter.

Your information will be kept securely on the Google Cloud Platform and destroyed after 7 years.
